Then we head to Tengboche the next day and enjoying the flora and fauna through the trial. Tengboche; this at 3,867m is home to the largest Buddhist monasteries in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Namaste!! Welcome to the beautiful Himalayan country Nepal. After following immigration and customs formalities at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by a representative from High Wonders Travel who will take us to our booked hotel. After checking in, we take a rest or we may also stroll in the streets of Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by High Wonders at a local restaurant with Nepali cultural music and ethnic dance show. For dinner, you will be served excellent authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the Nepalese food culture.

After breakfast, our tour guide will take us to the monuments and places that come under the category of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, where we might see "Kumari", the living goddess, as well as visit pagoda style temples. Then we will visit Swayambhunath Stupa, a Buddhist temple which is known as the Monkey Temple. After that, we will visit Pashupatinath temple, one of the biggest and popular Hindus temples of Nepal, and thousands of devotees visit this temple every day. We might see cremation taking place on the bank of the Bagmati River. From here, we move towards Bouddhanath stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world where over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries are located. After, we drive back to the hotel.

An early morning start takes us to the domestic terminal Kathmandu Airport for the 35-minutes scenic flight to Tenzing and Hillary Airport at Lukla (2,850m/ 9,350ft). On arrival at the airport, the guide will brief us and introduce our porters before we begin our trek towards Phakding (2,610 m).

After landing we have time to explore the village while our Sherpa crew sort and load our trekking equipment. Then we begin our trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, located just above Chaunrikharka (2,713 m). The walking is easy. After passing through the small village of Ghat (2,550 m), it is a short walk to Phakding.

After spending the day in Phakding, we head out for Namche Bazaar, the most popular market in the Himalayas. The village of Namche is a historic trading post where Nepalese and Tibetan traders exchange salt, dried meat and textiles. Besides being a splendid destination to shop for traditional crafts, Namche remains the central trading post in the Khumbu that attracts Himalayan and lowland merchants. After crossing the settlement of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, we reach the check post and entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. We need to pass through the last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche Bazaar. The trekking route is filled with Pine trees and also green landscapes. In the way, we can see the Dudh Koshi River and pass through various suspension bridges, one of which is the most famous Hillary Suspension bridge. We then leave behind us the gorgeous view of Mt.Thamserku and many settlements. If the weather permits, on the hike we may capture our first glimpses of Everest and neighboring peaks.

The rest day at Namche Bazaar is crucial for acclimatization. It is advisable to stay active instead of being idle for this day. We can go for a day's hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. There are plenty of things to do around Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Khumbu region and has ATMs, cyber cafés, shops, restaurants, bakeries, and a colourful market each Friday evening and Saturday morning. Our guides will take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe a variety of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various flora and fauna found at such a high altitude of the Everest region. There are also good views from the Sagarmatha National Park Centre and Museum just above the town. After going through our acclimatization drills, we head down to our lodge for a good sleep.

Post breakfast, our trek starts with a climb up to Syangboche. Just above Syangboche is Everest View Hotel, which offers one of the great views of Mt. Everest and other mountains. Next, we continue trekking up to Khumjung village and reach there within 2 hours of walking. This village is surrounded by Kondge, Thamserku and the sacred Khumbila mountains. While here, we visit the Edmund Hillary School, Hillary Hospital and Khumjung Monastery (a monastery famous for housing the head of the Yeti). Another attraction is a set of busy and colorful monasteries, lined with prayer flags and prayer wheels that are braced along the slopes high above this traditional village.

Today we walk through the beautiful natural wilderness offering the scenic Himalaya view and much more natural and cultural beauty. We take a walk drop down to Dudh Koshi River passing through little villages on the way. The trails involve down with forest and across Riverside for the lunch and we take a final ascent to step up for 2 hours through pine and fir forest to reach a small hill Tyangboche. The photogenic views from here are considered to be the world's most splendid one. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku provide inspiring views of Himalayan giants. Tengboche village is also home to the famous Tengboche Gumba which is situated at 3,867 m and is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region of Nepal.

The trial from Tengboche takes a steep descent of about 1500ft/500m through rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Koshi River. After crossing the first bridge over Dudh Koshi on our return trip at Phunki Tenga, we pass the village of Tashinga and Sansa before finally reaching the beautiful village of Kyangjuma. From here we appreciate spectacular views of Ama-Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest, overnight at Kyangjuma.

We have to reach Namche Bazaar first then continue to Monjo. Today we trek down from Kyangjuma all the way to Monjo. We keep an eye for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc. A steep descent from Namche Hill leads to the suspension bridge crossing the Dudh Koshi River near the confluence of the Dhudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi Rivers. We cross the Dudh Koshi River twice at separate locations before reaching Monjo. Monjo is comparatively a quieter place to stay than Namche and it also means our porters have a less strenuous walk back to Lukla the next day.

Today is the last day of our trek. Most of the trail is flat although there are some descends and brief ascents too. In the distant Kwangde peak is visible. The Sherpa villages on the trail display faith in Buddhism and cultural practices associated with it as prayer stones and prayer flags flutter in the wind. The trail crosses Dhud Koshi River three times through the prayer flags strewn suspension bridges and also cross one of its tributaries, Thado Koshi once. The final ascent of about 45 minutes from Chheplung takes us to Lukla, This last evening in the mountains is the ideal opportunity to spend some moments with the whole crew as the porters will not accompany us to Kathmandu.

Today, we will extend our final goodbyes to the Khumbu region. After Breakfast, we catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. On arrival in Kathmandu, we will be transferred to our pre-booked hotel. If we want to explore any other areas of Kathmandu, we may do that today. Our guides can help you with both souvenir shopping or sightseeing. There will be a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey.

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! But the memories will remain forever of the wonderful times we spent together. A High Wonders Travel representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight.
